In Slovakia, interest in prefab homes is growing and the number of wooden buildings as a percentage of new builds is increasing year on year.
DREVOSTAVBY BRUNO SLOVAKIA, s.r.o. is a company with thirty years’ experience in timber construction, yet it still finds itself having to dispel the myth among consumers that wooden buildings have a shorter longevity than brick buildings. The company’s CEO Matej Habľák had this to say: “Of course, it all depends on how wooden buildings are looked after. You need to understand that not even brick buildings can thrive without regular maintenance. If you don’t look after them, they’ll fall apart in a matter of years. And you can’t mention building longevity without also taking into account wood-decaying fungus and woodworm. These can indeed be hazardous to wooden buildings, but only if they have been built by amateurs. If your construction work has been carried out in minute detail with quality insulation and structural wood protection by means of quality wood impregnation, you shouldn’t have to worry about the longevity of your prefab home. That’s why we use Bochemit QB Profi brown to impregnate all our construction timber (roof battens, roof laths and supporting beams) in our dip tank.
