In the summer of 2025, an apartment building on Komenského Street in Ostrava-Poruba underwent a complete roof renovation. The original roof from the 1950s was damaged after more than 70 years of use and was causing leaks. It was therefore necessary to replace it.
The project included complete sheet-metal work and roofing work, installation of a new gutter system, chimney flashing, and installation of snow guards. Before replacing the roofing, a structural assessment of the roof structure was carried out. It turned out that the existing rafters between the wall plate and the middle purlin were unsuitable and would need to be reinforced. The other load-bearing elements were structurally sound.
The renovation also included the installation of new supporting boarding under the roofing. The added wooden elements have been professionally treated with Bochemit QB profi brown, which will ensure their long-term protection.
The type and color of the roofing were designed in accordance with the requirements of conservationists so that the house would retain the uniform appearance typical of the Sorela neighborhood. The project was carried out with regard to preserving the original character of the building, the structural safety of the building, and its functionality. As a result, the building now has a modern and reliable roof that will protect its inhabitants for many years to come.
