Visitors to the Vltavotýnsko region can admire the beauty of nature along the Vltava and Lužnice Rivers, roam around serene forests, and explore the Písek Mountain Nature Park. It is no wonder that this area is just ideal for recreation and is a very popular location for cabins and summer houses.
This luxurious log cabin in Týn nad Vltavou is situated just 20 meters from the edge of the Vltava River. In addition to being exposed to river moisture, the building is also surrounded by oak trees that particularly benefit from the local acidic soils. Humidity, heat, and acidic environment – this is an ideal setting for molds, mosses, lichens, and fungal spores. This was a major problem for the 12-year-old log cabin.
New owners thus decided to renovate the property with a view to ensure its cleaning and preventive protection against moisture. Even though wood is a material that can be damaged by inappropriate blast cleaning (using high-pressure cleaners), the owners decided to engage a professional cleaning company that applied the corn cob grit blasting method. This method can remove organic layers, such as mosses, lichens, and molds, while cleaning and consolidating the surface. Furthermore, it enhances the original wood grain structure. Once cleaned, the wood was finished with one coat of the thin-layer oil-based glaze Bochemit Estetik Profi 15+ in oak color and two coats of the colorless oil-based glaze Bochemit Estetik Finish. This will ensure long-term protection against UV radiation and the aforementioned moisture.
