The most common cause for roof reconstruction is leakage into the roof cladding. When this occurs, you need to do more than just replace the damaged roof covering or, where for more extensive damage, re-cover the roof entirely. Increased moisture caused by leakage brings with it an increased probability of infestation of the timber roof structure by wood-decaying insects, fungi or mould.
As a result, all timber elements of the roofing must be examined. Look for damaged timber. If you spot rotten timber, mould, fungus, or passageways or exit holes for wood-decaying insects, these infested parts will need repaired.
